A New Journey

Welcome to Through the Lens.  My name is Tasha.  I am a wife and homeschooling Momma to twin boys.  I am also a pathological picture taker. I love taking pictures.  They tell a short story.  They hold memories.  They are what makes me tick.  My little Canon Power Shot has served me well through the years.  BUT at some point it just couldn't cut my love for taking pictures.  For well over five years I have been dreaming of a good camera.  Last Friday my dream came true.  I am now a proud owner of a Nikon D3200. Along with that we purchased the Nikon 55-200mm zoom lens.  We can tell already we need something much bigger, but it is an excellent starter.  The day came and it was all surreal.  It really was because I (we) had been talking about it for what seemed like forever.  God is faithful and Good.

Why the blog?
Being a newbie I thought I would share my journey in learning a new camera.  A journey I know will be shared with my husband as well.  His desire in photography is clear.  And he has taken some amazing shots already!

What to expect?
We are a family who loves the great outdoors.  All of it....flowers, trees, birds, wildlife and so much more. We are a married couple who loves to create in the kitchen.  He cooks I bake.  OK I cook, but he cooks the really good stuff.  We make a great team in the kitchen.  We are lovers of craft beer, quirky, eclectic styles and you might say DIY projects run through our blood.  We'll share a wide variety of photos.  Even cute pictures of twin boys!  After blogging our personal life for many years now this blog will be different.  Think Instagram-pictures and a short description. And many times no description at all.  So often the picture tells the story.  As I learn all the technical camera talk I'll share that as well.  Right now for the most part we are using the Auto setting as we just play around and have fun with the camera.  I have lots to learn.

How frequent?
I hope to share really good pictures often, but in real life not every picture is really good.  Check back when you can.

As we learn the camera I will share beauty, the mundane and the unusual.  Maybe not in every post, but that is what my eye looks for.  With spring in full bloom in our neck of the woods you will see lots of beauty here at first.  So sit back and see how we learn to take better pictures.

Beauty

The Mundane....or for some the Unusual.
